THE GRAND TOUR 2025
Sara & Brian do Southern India and Islands
Fly to Chennai (Madras to boomers) and get acclimatised.
Overland by train and ferry to northern Sri Lanka,
starting in Jaffna, the least touristy bit of the island.
Train down to Colombo.
Hire a car and potter round the island.
Fly to the Maldives for a few expensive days.
Fly to Cochin in Kerela, SW India.
and chill on the beaches and canals.
Then overland by train back to Chennai before flying home.
Then home again after 7 weeks travel.
January and February 2025.
SEVEN WEEKS IN SOUTHERN INDIA
My plan for 2025 was to visit Australia and New Zealand, so you can see how much influence I hold over route planning, zero. Sara is NO fan of Australia, no idea why, just isn't.
I nearly swung it by chucking in Japan and China but it is too cold there at this time of year. My bonus was to get agreement to Japan and China in March/April 2026.​

So, small bags packed, lightweight clothing only, ready to roll onto Qatar Airways for a lovely flight out, three nights in a hotel booked..... Nothing else.
Everything else left to chance. That's the plan.

If you are reading this please bear in mind that it's just a light hearted personal diary to remind the two of us of our travels and for our family and friends to catch up with what we are up to.
Just a bunch of anecdotes, funny stories, some notes and lots of pictures of our travels
to jog our own fading memories in years to come.
