DAY 25
Parga

Saturday 5 May
126 miles (2226 total)
Another rather grey day, but brightening up slowly.
It's been 30 degrees and no rain for weeks, until we get here!

What is it with us and balconies with views? Another stunner. High up above the harbour and it is magnificent. Sara's tours comes out number one on Trip Adviser again!! Best tour operator in the region.
We had a nice crossing from Italy, lovely cabin, nice and smooth. Off the ferry at 0600 and here 30 minutes later to sit down for a proper breakfast in the first cafe in town to open, the first Full English for ages. I'm not a fan of the Italian breakfasts, all sweet cakes and sliced ham with no toaster to toast my bread for my morning toast and Marmite. At the current Marmite stock levels we can stay away about another 6 weeks. When stocks run low we will head for home (or have a jar air dropped in I guess).

Today is a rest day. Just psyching ourselves up for Boat Day. We wander round town, visit the 'Parga Castle' for the views, enjoy a spot of lunch, then off to Sakis Restaurant tonight, a restaurant owned by the owners of our hotel. Highly recommended by Sara's Mum. The brothers act as waiters and Greek dance as well. Tonight is the opening night, first night of the season. What actually happened was were so knackered we stayed in and watched telly on our laptops, which have both been cunningly set up with VPN's so that we can watch live UK TV anywhere in the world, courtesy of some demon software that mimics the laptop being in the UK. Sara gets her fix of 'Corrie' whenever she starts to get the shakes.

Sara has been agonising over whether she will be asked to prove she can 'tie seven boating knots' so we watch a 'sailingholidays' video and read out loud the bits where it says you can be a novice to take out our monster boat. I convince Sara we will not be keelhauled for exaggerating our (my) abilities, sadly I do not fully convince myself. Only time will tell.

The plan on the first day is we meet our fellow sailors (S is convinced they will all be trans-Atlantic experts) over lunch, then we get introduced to our rides. There will be the obvious size-envy to overcome for the others as we two rattle around in our outsized tub and then make a genuine effort to fill all the wasted space with beer and wine. S has decided we must also spend and extra £80 to strap a paddleboard to the flipping thing - as if I don't have enough to worry about already!!

O
Our Hotel, circled, top floor, far left room, best view there is. Sara's Tours! They love a view. Room details for Janet, looks like the same room you had during your stay, and see what you mean about the stairs. We gave your love to Demetrious, he repaid it by continually putting his arm round me - in a Greek way. Not any other way I can assure you - I think......

Sara was not keen on my pics of Parge and so insisted this one of hers be included. I leave it to you to judge.....
